Professional Experience

DREXEL AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS LABORATORY, DREXEL UNIVERSITY, Philadelphia PA
Research Assistant/PhD student (September 2006 - Present)

Developed a mixed reality training and evaluation system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Operations in Near Earth Environments. The system was an integration of motion platform technology, simulation software, a room size gantry, and UAV sensor hardware. The system offered a safe method for development and human factor studies of a novel mixed reality chase view interface for UAV pilots. Field test were conducted with RC rotorcraft to validate the interface. Acquired Skills: C# Programming, Computer Vision Tracking and 3D Reconstruction techniques, UAV Hardware and Software integration, Human Factors Analysis

PRISM LABORATORY, DREXEL UNIVERSITY, Philadelphia, PA
Research Assistant/Master Student (September 2003 - August 2006)
Developed a biplanar fluoroscopic approach for the measurement, reality-based modeling, and simulation of needle and soft tissue interaction with the goal of a full simulation/trainer for procedures such as prostate brachytherapy. Work was presented at two major robotic conferences and a journal paper was published in Medical Image Analysis. Acquired Skills: Finite Element Analysis, Computer Vision and Image Processing Techniques.

PRISM LABORATORY, DREXEL UNIVERSITY, Philadelphia, PA
Undergraduate Student Researcher, 10/2002 to 8/2003October 2002 to August 2003

Designed, modified and machined equipment parts out of aluminum and steel using ProEngineer and a Smithy Midas 1220 for a bi-axial soft tissue testing apparatus and machined parts for soft tissue cutting and probing equipment. Helped integrate the bi-axial device with a Dspace controller board and write C code for motor control and data acquisition. Helped write and edit robotics handbook chapter titled "D-H conventions" (Robotics and Automation Handbook edited by Prof. Tom Kurfess, CRC Presson Denavit-Hartenburg parameters). Acquired Skills: Machining and manufacturing techniques, 3D CAD Modeling, C Programming.

E.I. DUPONT DE NEMOURS & CO. , Philadelphia, PA
Student Engineer, 3/2002 to 9/2002

Developed test method for measuring the color of ink jet color concentrates. Evaluated and tested mechanical equipment including conducting engineering design and integrity reviews. Conducted scouting experiments and research on super critical fluids for the development of new processes. Designed experiments to identify a new solvent for use in this process. Participated in the first demonstration of the application of this technology for use in coating extraction and nanopartical formation. Presented work on research projects and color test method at technical meetings.

E.I. DUPONT DE NEMOURS & CO. , Philadelphia, PA
Student Engineer, 3/2001 to 9/2001

Developed and tested new technology and processes for Ink Jet Inks. Designed experiments to assure scaleability and led operations personnel in successful start-up and optimization of two separate processes. Worked with technical process teams to stage equipment in semi-works facility (small plant scale) leading to transitioning the process to full manufacturing scale. Presented data experiments and results during technical reviews.

SUNOCO, INCORPORATED, Philadelphia, PA
Assistant Tank Project Engineer, 3/2000 to 9/2000

Managed the 2000 Tank VOC (volatile organic compound) program and tank demolition program. Evaluated tank inspection reports and wrote quick references for repairs needed. Checked tanks for mechanical, electrical and instrumental isolation. Accompanied inspectors during internal out of service tank inspections. Surveyed and evaluated pipe supports. Interacted with contractors. Supervised projects which included writing scope of works and holding contractor bid meetings. Generated a 5 year budget plan for tank inspection and demolition. Converted and updated tank database to Microsoft Access. Created forms for inspection reports and tank design data sheets. Attended tank meetings to report on the status of work.

Teaching Experience
